Americus Youth Killed by Motor
Warren Battle fourteen, white, was struck by an automobile on Oglethorpe road in Americus Saturday night and died within an hour. The car, driven by Edith Mathews, was said to have been unavoidable. Battle, a city carrier for the Americas Imes Recorder, was delivering papers when he crossed the highway. He was rendered unconscious and died at an Americus hospital. Mathews stopped, aided by bystanders, and her car was lightly damaged as she swerved to avoid him. She endured a severe shock.

Camp progress and wind storm damage noted
Sunday afternoon a wind storm threatened disaster at the camp blowing down several tents including the forestry foreman's living quarters. The dam for the swimming pool is completed and the basin is filling. A more permanent camp village is forming with water system work underway and a new forestry office at the camp. Rev. H G Hobbs held services and Corporal Phillips was transferred back to Ft Benning.

Henry M. Stokes retired Seaboard conductor died at 12:15 PM Monday at the home of Miss Ian and Aeola Caldwell in Americus Georgia. Funeral services were held at Lee Street Methodist Church Tuesday with Rev. G I Erwin and Rev H T Freeman officiating. Members of the Order of Ballrows Conductors served as honorary pallbearers. Burial followed at Buena Vista cemetery. He is survived by his widow Mrs Bell Stokes two sisters Mrs George Lowe of Buena Vista and Mrs Ebb Hart of Ellaville plus several nieces and nephews.
