Hardman urges extra session for state income measures

Americus Woman Slashes Wrists Then Shoots Self
In Americus Georgia on a Saturday morning Mrs Goodman slash her wrists with a razor and then fired a pistol into her temple. She was found in her room bleeding with the wounds and bullet entry. Doctors described the case as peculiar and unusual and noted serious mental distress among family acquaintances.

Farm er shoots mules and self. barn and home burn
O. H. Winfrey, a Dooly county farmer, shot two mules in a barn, then set the barn and home ablaze and killed himself. Neighbors found him and dragged his body from the residence. He had moved his wife to her parents’ home, transferred property there, and left his car at the scene. Insanity is blamed for the act.

Beloved Woman Mrs Sims Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. 8. D. Sims died Saturday in Butler at age 81 or 82 after a period of illness. She spent her final years with relatives including Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Edwards and Dr. and Mrs. W. W. Edwards. A devout Methodist, she admired for kindness and patience through years of hardship, with a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held in Tazewell with Rev. J. T. Adams officiating, and interment in the family cemetery. Pallbearers included Edwards family members and local men, and numerous floral tributes marked the esteem in which she was held.

The Columbus District annual meeting of the women’s auxiliary met in Reynolds on April 15. Rev M C Williams led morning devotion from John and preached Pentecost themes. Mrs E W House of Lumpkin presided as district secretary. Reynolds Auxiliary welcomed delegates, with reports from zone leaders and junior members. A noon meal, music by Mr Fuller, and an afternoon focusing on Epworth Juniors followed, ending with a call to strengthen youth missionary work. The Columbus District quota of 25 was supplemented by a freewill offering.

After a strenuous week Taylor Superior Court adjourned by Judge Frank McLaughlin until June ninth for a non jury session. Trials included Alvert Miller cleared of murder charges and the long forgery case involving C T G Hill and Stiles Mitchell, with Hill repeatedly escaping custody and Hill pleading guilty to forgery before being remanded.

Byrd Leaves Macon Hospital After Shooting Injuries
Mr. RE Byrd, hospitalized in Macon with serious pistol wounds from an April 6 confrontation with Dude Bell, is discharged home near Reynolds in satisfactory condition. A ongoing manhunt by officers for the suspect Negro Dude Bell continues without success.
