The White City club plans a Sunday basket picnic at White City park Stop 7 on the Mill Creek valley car line with music and dancing for a large crowd. An executive board special session is set for Saturday at 7 o clock as matters of utmost importance will be discussed.
Chester M. Wright argues that Allied workers back the war, despite noisy minorities, and cautions readers to seek all facts. He notes British and French masses are solid for victory, while selective reports mislead about antiwar sentiment. He urges caution in drawing conclusions from overseas coverage.
At a large meeting the Hamilton Cooperative Trades and Labor Council elected officers for six months. Albert Brown, delegate from the Brewery and Soft Drink Workers' union, was chosen president after A E Eggleston declined due to an injury. Other officers were elected from various unions, with praise for Brown’s organizational experience and dedication.
The Butler county fair grounds host the second shop picnic and field meet this Saturday with many shops taking part. Participating firms include Hooven Owens & Rentschler Beckett Paper Co Shuler & Benninghofen Deuscher Co Krauth & Benninghofen Liberty Machine Tool Buckeye Marble Co Nonpareil Printing Co Hooven Automatic Register Co Schlichter Mfg Co Schantz Mfg Co Hamilton Caster Co Hamilton Lumber Co. The YMCA industrial department invites all to attend and a cafeteria will offer sandwiches coffee ice cream and more.
Machinists Hamilton Lodge No 241 held a well attended meeting with many new applications and a large class initiated. They discussed progress toward 1500 members and other routine business. Separately the article notes that shipyard accident prevention shows strong results with Hog Island reporting 107 accidents among 20 407 workers in one month.
