Bankers oppose insured deposits despite system success

The article notes Congress backed a $5,000 bank deposit insur ance law and that the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation has paid 93 percent of insured deposits in 58 failed banks since 1933. As of May 31, 43,208 of $8,552,998 in deposits were paid in full, with remaining funds being processed. Organized bankers still push repeal despite social gains for small savers.
