Union workers at Packard Motor Car Company approve a contract recognizing the United Automobile Workers as the sole bargaining agent for about 14 000 hourly paid employees. Employment Service Placements Rise in Ohio in April
Ohio State Employment Service reports 13,326 private industry placements in April, up 75 percent from a year earlier. Through April 39,042 have been placed in private employment this year, a 68 percent rise from 1936. Total April placements reach 15,556 including public service, with a 26 percent April over March increase. Hamilton recorded 242 new applications and 310 total placements, 245 in private industry. Forty Hour Week Won for Fort Smith Furniture Workers
The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners local in Fort Smith Arkansas organized with aid from the Trades and Labor Council.
