Oil Operators Meet in Austin on Output Cuts

In Austin more than 100 oil operators discussed reducing oil output with state officials. The meeting followed a call by the state railroad commission at Governor Moody's request. The commission may appoint an oil umpire to work with operators in certain regions.

Industrial Commission Forms Study of Big Labor Problems

New York City reports the National Civic Federation formed an industrial commission to study labor issues such as injunctions and anti trust laws. The initial meeting directed a subcommittee to collect facts and lay out a study plan. Delegates included Matthew Woll Wheeler Bloodgood and labor leaders John Frey William Lee and Victor Olander.

Taft jailed for alleged embezzlement from Open Shop group

Robert Taft executive secretary of the Open Shop Employers Association faces embezzlement charges for allegedly signing checks to defraud the group of $25,000 over 15 months. The organization is linked to rat printing offices in Chicago and Taft defended his low $125 monthly salary amid the case.
