New York Senator Robert F Wagner urged stabilizing industry to curb unemployment, calling current data on construction inadequate. He proposed three bills to create a Labor Department data unit, a forecasting division, a $4 million annual employment system, and up to $150 million for public works, citing Chicago’s severe distress and urging frank, proactive measures.
