Local Carpenters and Joiners Union No. 637 reported a record attendance of 170 at its Thursday gathering led by President Lou Nau. The meeting featured routine business, many new applications, ten clearance cards, and a bright outlook with anticipated building activity and efforts to curb non union labor.
Charles Edward Russell writes from Europe, warning of famine and political chaos across Silesia, Galicia, Armenia, and beyond. He argues the United States must act to aid starvation-stricken nations, drawing on wartime food programs and the rising unrest across Britain and Germany.
Col. Wm. Linn representing the International Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union and the Hon. Tom Anderson, business agent of the Cincinnati Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union, attended the local No. 108 meeting last Monday night. They spoke about union activities elsewhere before departing on a southbound car.
The Illinois state federation of labor concludes a state wide referendum on forming a labor party. Reports show 245 A F L affiliated unions and 112 unaffiliated unions participated.
