Union Labor Life Elects New Board in Harmonious Stockholders Meeting
Union Labor Life Insurance Company held its first annual stockholders meeting in Baltimore with about 15 000 shares represented. Matthew Wolf was unanimously reelected president and new officers included George W. Perkins as vice president and western representative, Martin F. Ryan as treasurer, Luther Stewart as secretary, Thomas E B Burke as vice president, and J D Madrill as vice president and general manager. Directors elected for terms of one to three years represented diverse labor unions and associations. The company moved to new offices on Twentieth Street and Connecticut Avenue as stock subscriptions after closing are being refunded, a source of embarrassment. Maryland Insurance Commissioner praised Woll’s report. Operations begin once offices are equipped and staff organized. Bakery workers organized a local unit in Huron, South Dakota.
