Washington, D. C. The federal trade commission orders National Biscuit Company and Lodge-Wiles Biscuit Company to end price discrimination between chain stores and independent grocers. The FTC finds chain discounts harm competition and threaten independent dealers who must carry branded products like Uneeda, Nabisco, Zulu, Tak-Hom-A, Perfettos, and Yum-Yuma.

Injuries Cost Coal Industry Millions Annually

Washington reports non fatal injuries in US coal mines total a $39 million annual loss. About 200,000 injuries occur each year causing temporary disability and average production loss of 60 tons per accident. With four tons per day and coal at $4.25, loss per incident reaches $195. Permanent disability or death would raise totals.

Aid for German unions urged by American Federation of Labor
