The Retail Clerks Union No 119 reports rapid growth with many locals joining. Monday night meetings were well attended with three new members and five applications. the main action was adopting the yearly contract with merchants. A five member committee was appointed to present the agreement to the International for approval.
Musicians Union No. 31 held a well attended meeting on Col. High Street and Monument Ave. Four new members were admitted and four applications received. John Hartman Will H Lebo and Carl Lehmkuhl elected delegates to the Trades Council J Edward Lehmkuhl elected to represent the local union at the American Federated Musicians national convention upcoming.
In Dayton Ohio during the week of May 12 Brother Lahmkuhl leads local musicians who have represented the city at national conventions for years. He will be joined by Mrs Lehmkuhl at this year's session.
The Carpenters and Joiners Union held a banquet Thursday night with carpenters, wives, and local contractors in attendance. The event featured an ample spread, floral table bouquets, and dancing until midnight with Lehmkuhl's orchestra providing music.
Great War Veterans' Association of Windsor condemns strike breaking and will not aid unions break strikes while remaining nonpartisan. The Windsor group and affiliated border locals consist of veterans who served overseas and will support labor-endorsed or soldiers' council candidates in upcoming elections. He warns profiteering and lack of full justice threaten democracy and urges turning all wartime profits to the people to quell unrest.
Luke McLuke of Cincinnati Enquirer fame will headline the eighteenth annual Monkey Mutual Aid Society banquet at Monk Temple tomorrow. Judge E J Kautz will be toastmaster with Mayor C J Smith and Judge Robert Woodruff as speakers. The program features songs, Luke McLuke stories, and a full menu supervised by Gus Mueller.
Henry Ford plans to locate a new automobile plant in Hamilton Ohio with hundreds of thousands of residents expected to move in for high wages and jobs. Edsel Ford says a separate company will be formed and plants may start next year with sites chosen in Green Island New York and Hamilton Ohio.
