Senate Votes to Remove Price Controls on Key Goods

Lyden presses rent control call for special session

President Lyden of the Ohio Federation of Labor urged Governor Lausche to summon a special General Assembly session to pass a state rent control law if OPA is not renewed. He warned rents have jumped as much as 70 percent in some cities and keep rising, calling it a body blow to wage earners and urging action.

Middletown Post 218 American Legion plans a Saturday outing at Le Sourdaville resort between Middletown and Hamilton. Activities include drum and bugle corps competition softball games contests band concert swimming diving exhibits and a fireworks display.

Hamilton Trades Council Sets Picnic Plan at LeSourdsville

The Hamilton Trades and Labor Council met Tuesday with President Ray Caldwell presiding. A city bus line has promised transport for Saturday's picnic at LeSourdsville Lake on August 10. Tickets are on sale through member organizations. A five member committee to attend City Council meetings was named. Howard Colvin will represent the council at the Ohio State Federation of Labor convention in Cleveland opening July 29.
