President Truman signed the Hobbs Bill after Attorney General Tom Clark assured it could not be read as limiting labor rights such as the right to strike or picket. The law makes illegal interference with interstate goods a felony and carries fines up to 10000 dollars or 20 years imprisonment. In New York City a test case challenging the law’s constitutionality was predicted by the AFL Local 807 attorney.

Gas Well Drilling to Start Near Jacksonburg Farm
W L Treadway will begin search for a third gas well in farm country near Jacksonburg three miles west of town. Seven Mile well driller reports Ohio Fuel Gas Co officials planned a feeder line after completing three producing wells in a 700 acre area. The new site sits on the Leo Angst farm one mile east of the Bels ford farm where a strong gas flow was capped last week.
