Machinists Ladies Auxiliary Sets Example of Union Label Activity

Washington, D. C. ILNS reports a peak record for union label activity by the Ladies Auxiliary of the International Association of Machinists. Anna Preusser of St. Louis chairs the department for the United States and notes over 100000 union label purchases in two months. Local Auxiliaries in Cincinnati and St. Louis led averages.

AFL unions organize Midwest conference drive

Representatives of the American Federation of Labor in 11 states planned a midwestern conference of local union delegates in Chicago. More than 4,000 are expected to attend on October 6 and 7. Officials including William Green and George Meany will speak. Policy and publicity committees were named with leaders from Illinois and Chicago unions. Participants from Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and the Dakotas also joined.

Factory Jobs and Pay Rise in New York June

New York factories added 0.4 percent more workers in June from May with payrolls up 18 percent. Industrial Commissioner Frieda S. Miller cites a reversal of typical monthly declines over 25 years. Indexes show factory employment at 88.8 and payrolls at 86.5. Compared with June last year, employment rose about 10 percent and payrolls roughly 14 percent.

Milk Trust Case Labor Victory Ordered Bill of Particulars
