Bakers Escape Net in Chicago Labor Strife

In Chicago a group of bakers linked to Union No 2 faced conspiracy charges amid a strike wave challenging wealthy bakers demanding wage reductions. A striker, Henry Piab, was killed by a gunman, and a mob raided union HQ last August, seizing records and detaining 42 members. Bail was set high by Phow Carey, a wealthy manufacturer.
