The move follows a campaign led by Safety Director Noonan with several committees producing codes on ventilation lighting ladders and grinding wheels. A formal installation of officers and a social hour followed the meeting with next gathering slated for Mrs George’s home on North Second Street.
The Woman's Union Label League met last Thursday at Mrs Swain Carson's home on Forest Ave Lindenwald. Much routing business was transacted before the new officers were installed for the current year.
The Retail Clerks Union met Monday with poor attendance due to bad weather. Officers were to be installed but the plan was postponed to the next regular gathering on Monday evening January 28. Three delegates to the Trades Council will be elected and several initiations will occur.
The general committee of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen in the United States backs a wage schedule near one percent higher. Carter of Cleveland, chairman, says the referendum among members is not a strike vote. The six-man committees from eastern, southeastern, and western divisions will meet again to finalize before presenting to railroad management.
