NRLB Rules For Labor in Four Important Cases Involving 7 A

The National Labor Relations Board ruled in four cases that employers violated Section 7 A by interfering with employee organization and failing to bargain. Los Angeles Railway Corporation and Los Angeles Motor Coach Company were cited for not recognizing the Amalgamated Association as exclusive bargaining agent and for bargaining with the Los Angeles Railway Street Employees Association. Globe Globe Corporation and Shuster Guiro Corporation faced similar charges for moving plants outside New York City to avoid bargaining. The board ordered reinstatement of workers and recognition of the union.

Butler County Bus Inspections Show No Unsafe Buses

The State Patrol and Ohio Department of Education conducted a follow up in Butler county. All buses were deemed safe to operate. earlier checks found four unsafe vehicles and drivers without chauffeur licenses or insurance.

Clerks' Organizer Marcus to Visit Hamilton Meetings

General Organizer Marcus of the Retail Clerks' International Union will visit Hamilton this week, attend meetings at the labour temple, and seek new agreements for 1935 after local contracts expired. Marcus comes from Akron Ohio. The moose bird is a local name for the Canada jay in eastern Canada.

Civil Service Examinations Open in 1935 Plans and Pay

The United States Civil Service Commission announces open competitive exams for several engineering and grazing posts with salaries from 2 600 to 5 600 a year. Closing date for applications is January 30 1935. Salaries are subject to up to 5 percent economy deduction and 3 percent retirement deduction. All states except five have received fewer appointments than their quota in Washington DC.

Strike Ends at Shreveport Plant After Union Victory

A general strike by 68 workers at Southwestern Gas and Electric in Shreveport ended when the company agreed to recognize the union affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for Louisiana workers. The Regional Labor Board reported talks with both sides on representation rights. The dispute centered on cross state voting. power was briefly cut in the city before the Texas plant supplied electricity.

Mill Ordered to Rehire Discharged Union Workers

The Textile Labor Relations Board in Washington orders Wie Apotwuse Manufacturing Company in Kosiske Mississippi to reinstate all union members discharged or laid off since the United Textile Workers local formed there. Workers are to be placed on a preferential list and replace those hired since May 5, 1934, except those guilty of violence or discharged for proven inefficiency.
