A wartime leaflet found in a Lindenwald plant payroll envelope accuses the Hamilton Machine Tool Company of denigrating returning soldiers while profiting from munitions orders. It warns that postwar employees will seek any job, possibly replacing strikers, as machinists' strike continues at Lindenwald.
Government announces 33 600 public funds advanced to each soldier to clear and improv allotments for agriculture under supervision. Of the money allotted 750 for livestock and 50 for tools. State training farms pay 10 a week during preparation and 35 a month for life's necessities while awaiting first crop.
Chester M. Wright argues democracy faces threats from Bolshevism high living costs and industrial autocracy. He warns the left and right push against democratic governance, urging constructive forces to strengthen democracy and use its methods to curb profiteers and autocratic politics. The piece references the American Federation of Labor reconstruction program endorsing living wages and organized labor as essential to national welfare. Steubenville delegates Black Crawford and Kirchheim report to the central body after touring the Pittsburgh district.
