Hamilton Lodge of Machinists held a well attended Wednesday meeting. Reports from shop committees were encouraging and show ongoing growth with no current troubles. The Black & Clawson shop is named unfriendly as several unions left, joining others and securing jobs elsewhere.
A stirring editorial argues the nation must fight Germany and resist peace terms while mobilizing for labor parades and war effort. It warns against yielding to terms, stresses unity with Allies, and asserts clear motives for entering the war to defend national life and honor.
The Horse Marshals of the Labor Day parade meet every Sunday afternoon in the trades council hall at 2 p.m. Attendance is required. failure to attend is noted. Andrew Lentz serves as Grand Marshal.
Brotherhood of Stationary Firemen No. 98 announces a special meeting Thursday evening August 22 at P.M. Members should bring their automobiles. Five candidates initiated. F. X. Hiltpoltsteiner, President, J. J. Bucheit, Secretary.
The Labor Day Picnic Committee seeks 100 volunteers on the fair grounds. Each union should supply at least ten members to help the committee on Labor Day. Submit your name to the union representative. he will assign tasks. The more volunteers, the less work for everyone.
