36000 Gas Producers Referred for Australian Transport
The Minister for Supply announced that over 36 000 motor vehicles in Australia have been converted to producer gas with an additional 3 000 vehicles equipped each month. He said this transfer shows practicability for road transport.

Gum Creek School Sends Strong War Loan Spirit
Gum Creek School students raised £16 17s 6d from eleven children in a Prisoner of War Appeal organized by the SPJ. The voluntary effort reflected district support for the war cause and the school thanks the community. Service Girls Club Opens in London Hostel for Wom en
Last week AOM the Queen form ally opened a Y W G A leave and transit hostel for service women. Many girls want to stay in London but cannot afford hotels. Ashley House offers a 2 shillings bed and breakfast rate with 24 hour welcome. Matron Miss Macdonald of New Zealand leads welfare efforts. The club houses 100 girls with lounges, games room, restaurant and laundry facilities.
