West Croydon and Kilkenny Sub branch RSL members, led by President Jim Lumsden, visited Burra during the holiday weekend arriving Saturday midday. They laid a wreath at the War Memorial, enjoyed a smoke social, and toured Burra with old comrades recalling departed friends before a chop picnic and sightseeing on Sunday and Monday.

Stray Dogs Attack Jersey Cow Near Burra

Hallett proved superior at home signaling a steady improvement with young players. Burra suffered injuries to R Paswoe and Kellaway with 13 players used. Boum centre Josh Brooks and Booth carried Burra’s attack as Hallett’s forward line converted passes from Kellaway and McRae. Obitasry of Albert Opperman of Burra Worthy

The late Mr Albert Opperman of Burra Worthy died on June 12 after a long active life. He worked 80 years for Jas Reed and other properties, shorn by wool experiences and garden prizes at Burra Show. He played Burra Football in youth and followed the club with keen interest. He leaves sorrowing relatives and was interred in Burra Cemetery with local pallbearers and Rev R Pettet officiating.

Burra Homing Club Trophy Result Noted

Last Saturday's trophy at Burra Homing Club was won by 7H Hood who received the prize from Mr E C Davies. Other placings included Alen with a mealy cock and timing noted, Holman sixth, Kellaway seventh, Hood ninth, with sxe and saind velocity measurements recorded for several birds.

Federal Pastoral Award Increases Announced

Secretary of the Stockowners' Association of South Australia Mr Sinclair Wood has received advice from the Graziers' Australis that the shearing rate has been increased by Commissioner Donovan to £3 per hundred. Relative increases for other personnel and station hands are up by 7/8 per day. Increases apply from the gazettal date yet to be determined.

Kin epsech and Annan Meeting boost to society effort

The A.M.P. Society reported progress at the Annan Meeting with Deputy Chairman Sir Frederick Tout urging uniformed members to advance the society's work. In 1947 the society added 8,027,000 to its advance in government and semi governmental towns and increased investments in preference and ordinary shares by 1,809,000.
