Thirteen Year Old Boy Dies After Quarry Accident

A 13 year old boy died after a fall at a quarry Sunday morning following an incident Saturday afternoon when nine boys aged eight to thirteen were playing cops and robbers. A large stone toppled from the cliff edge, striking Andrew and causing a fatal head injury from an estimated 60 feet. Constables Bar by and Chamberlain prepared a coroner's report for Mr J A Fisher.

Spalding Pig Chase Tradition Continues in Wild Hunt

Messrs Blegert Bros Ben Slack Nell Brave Burnie Weston and C Allen prepare for the annual Pig Chase at Spalding Rodeo in New South Wales. Canopus bore yields artesian water near Burra

A bore at Canopus station 220 miles east of Burra struck potable water at 1000 feet after passing through sea sand and shells. Salt water layers were blocked and level rose to within 60 feet of the top, then fell two feet after hours of pumping. Report claims next bore may drill deeper in search of artesian water.

Weekend Sport Roundup From The North Eastern Association

The North Eastern Association held two weeks off the Saturday series with Hallett defeating Burra by 17 points. Terowie routed Leighton 11-10 to 5, Boohorowie beat Balding 12-7 to 110, and Whyte Tarowie beat Terowie women. Burra easily defeated Hallett 133 to 15, Roobcrowle bested Board 1 33 to 18. The A grade second qualifying round ran 30 holes with Mrs Blight beating Mrs E Jeffery. Mrs Gardser won the Saturday afternoon Bogey. In rifle shooting E O Rapkine won the first stage at 200 and 600 yards with 203 and took the Handicap. The Butts Farming Club’s rowing race from Morree Saturday covered 271 miles, won by P. J. Byrnes at 1382 yards per minute, his fifth win this season.
