Legacy Scores A Century at Mt Bryan Celebration

A large crowd supported Mt Bryan Legacy’s centenary events with generous donations and a well managed supper. The night featured mystery competitions and prizes won by locals including Mrs Wilmott and Mr Bert Wardle. Legacy Headquarters hosted by Mrs Porier, with dancing led by Mr Bob Jarmyn and live music by Mrs Preiss.

Fifty Years a Member of Kooringa Lodge No 6

The July Kooringa Freemasons meeting marked the 50th anniversary of A B Riggs joining the lodge on July 7 1903. He served 37 years as Treasurer and contributed as secretary for 17 years while supporting the RA and chapter. A birthday cake from Renmark attendees and a polished Mackwood lamp gift celebrated his long Masonic service.

The Burra Rifle Club held its annual presentation at the WS I clubrooms on Saturday, with many guests. Retiring captain D H Field welcomed attendees and thanked donors. Mayor W Carpenter praised the club’s defence work and strength. New captain J Lynch promised a successful season as trophies were awarded and a five guinea Champion of Champions trophy announced by Earle of Clare.

Children Pay Last Respects To Buried Brother

Thirteen year old Andrew Kikowhte son of Mr and Mrs yo.Katoshke Burra Worth was killed in an accident last week. About one hundred St. Josephs Convent and Burra High Schools pupils formed a guard at Burra Cemetery and again at the graveside. Fifty motor cars followed the hearse as Pastor WN Lock of North Adelaide officiated. Pearce and Son funeral directors handled arrangements.

Police Raid Barbecue at Bray Downs

Police raided a barbecue and dance party at Bray Downs on Friday night. Several visitors from across the district were questioned and identified. a gallon keg of beer and a beer pump were seized.
