Farmers report lumpy supper damaged by scrap iron mixed into the seed supply during seeding. Screens clogged by iron parts may slow sowing and reduce yields. Samples are sent to the State Millers for investigation to curb faulty super deliveries.
1953 Advertiser Tour to be South Australia’s biggest road race with prize money totaling £329. The event, sponsored by The Advertiser in conjunction with the League of Wheelmen, runs in four stages from West Terrace to Adelaide via Noarlunga Aldinga Mypongs Victor Harbor Mount Barker Lobethal Birdwood Gawler Clare and finishes back in Adelaide. Fifty riders limited to 40.
A coach carrying 36 elderly travelers from Adelaide visited Burra last week. Some were seeing Burra for the first time, others recalled living in the district. Notables present included Sister Watson, Miss Rosewall, Mr Reynalds, Mrs Nolan, and Mr Green. The party, greeted by His Worship the Mayor, enjoyed refreshments and a town tour, expressing appreciation for the excursion.
Burra Galt Associates hosts Open Day with ten entrants from Jamestown Myth Waterloo Kaptiands Nuriootpa Wirrabaru Angaston Peter O. Cardner secretary says the success hinges on fine weather. Catering by Mrs Cardner. Competitors receive hot coffee and snacks before tee off and a poultry lunch after. Many excellent trophies donated for events. Burra links are in prime condition.

In the BALGS Silver Spoon Competition round four Mrs C Gardner claimed victory in A Grade Hogey by a double win. Kim Schwiermith shot 68 off the life in AMA practice over 200 yards, taking the only possible score. P J Byres won Parathine's third race at Balurday with a 1516 yards per minute clocking.
At a Burra Progress Association meeting the group set a target of £2200 to buy up to date equipment for the Children's Playground near Garavan Park. A fundraising drive was approved with a dress parade idea to attract donors and a subscription list opened to gather funds over the coming months.
