Burra Town Council debated petrol allowances for councillors and country residents amid rationing. Dr T H Woollacott urged a deputation to press Mr P A McBride on equitable supplies, noting city access advantages and comparing Whyalla grants. The council also reviewed Show Society grounds usage and racecourse plans with local federation leaders.
Burra Town Council discussed allowing the siren to sound for fires outside town limits after incidents near the Clare boundary. Some members argued prompt calls for aid would compel residents to answer, while Dr Lee noted brigades’ rules bar sounding from outside the municipality. A motion to seek permission to use the siren locally was carried briefly.
