Seven Year Old Boy Electrocuted in Burra North

Kenneth Johnson seven year old son of Mr and Mrs Sid Johnson of Burra North died after his tennis ball landed on the roof and he touched live and neutral electric wires. Adrian Johnson, aged seven, was shocked but ran to summon help in rubber soled shoes. Dr Heddle treated the boy for an hour without success. Coroner Mr T A Woollacott found no inquest. Sympathy extended to the Johnson family.

New South Wales Graziers to Visit Burra

Twenty five graziers from New South Wales will visit Burra in April. The visits are organized by the Graziers Association of NSW and the party is expected to arrive on the evening of April 25. On April 24 and 27 members will inspect leading studs throughout the district.

Obituary of Mrs R J Gillett of Ranson

The late Mrs R J Gillett of Ranson, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs B T Anson of Farrell Flat, born Terowie January 23 1910, married Ray Gillett in October 1936. She supported Sunday School work, lived a devout Anglican and Methodist life, and leaves a husband and three sons Geoffrey, Robert and Neill, with many relatives.

Mr AIF Walker Dies Suddenly In Burra

Mr A J Walker a prominent Burra citizen died suddenly at his Kingston Street home on Friday afternoon. Born in Burra seventy years ago he helped found Walker & Sons and ran the Drapery section. A dedicated town worker he served on Burra Primary and High School committees and aided Centenary activities. Geology was his hobby and he guided visiting mining engineers to local sites. He married in 1907 to Mrs Day. their five children survived along with two predeceased sons. Funeral was held at Burra Cemetery with Rev H Hobbs officiating.

Fourteenth stage of the CG Colling Trophy rifle event

The fourteenth stage will be fired at 600 and 700 yards with FoTL Marston in charge. New 600 yard target dimensions match the old 500 yard size, affecting Aiming Mark and related readings. Seven members practiced Port Adelaide prize meeting set for February 20 21 and 23 under SARA rules, amid glare and heat.

Hallett Methodist Kindergarten Xmas Tree Event

The Hallett Kindergarten held its annual Xmas tree on Saturday December 13 with good attendance from mothers and friends. Mrs Nutt supervised. children sang Jingle Bells as Father Christmas distributed gifts and sweets. Afternoon tea followed with separate tables for the children, marking a cheerful season greeting.
