Sub-Branch Conference at Burra Saturday and Dinner

Sub-Branch Conference scheduled for Saturday at Burra runs from 10:30 a.m. to about 4:50 p.m. Delegates only vote while all members may attend. a reunion dinner follows at 7 p.m. Subscription includes catering. Members must submit names to the Secretary by March 8. ANZAC sports at Burt Racecourse April 20 feature cycling, athletics, horse and children events with up to £100 in prizes.

Dragsey House wins year opening cricket match at Burra High

Burra High School reports the Dragsey House won the toss and batted in a low scoring cricket match finishing eight wickets down for 56. Bell and Haese led the bowling for the Dragseys, while in tennis Steele House won the A match 3 sets 18 games to 1 set 18 games with several tight doubles results. The B match was won by Craysey House 1 set 4 games to 1 set 3 games. A student progress visit noted a girl struggling with reading.

Death of Mr Harry Mann

Mr Harry Mann aged 14, a well known local figure, was found shot dead at his lime about six miles from Burra on Friday evening. Police notified and Coroner Mr H J B Jennison reported that death was caused by a personal safety related gunshot wound and no inquest was required.

Cricket Carnival at Burra Ends With Final Match Likely

Followers of cricket will attend a carnival at Burra arranged by Prospect Cricket Club Excelsior Broken Hill Mokota Association and the Burra Association Play starts on Good Friday at Victoria Park and Racecourse Saturday features two matches Sunday visits Gorge for a picnic and Monday the two leading teams meet in the final A dance is set for Saturday night in the RSL Club Rooms Prospect expects about 30 members to attend
