About 200 returned servicemen and residents gathered for Burra RSL Club Rooms second anniversary. A commemorative scroll listing all donors was presented to President M G Dobson, crafted by artist Mr Norman Potter, honoring those who funded the club’s furnishings.

Burra Opens Tennis Courts After War Delays
A large crowd gathered at the Burra Lawn Tennis Courts for their opening amid postwar revival. The effort of Secretary L F Bence and a dedicated committee transformed three courts for play with five planned for next season, as Dr C Heddle and officials declared the courts open and welcomed an enjoyable afternoon of matches.

Girl Guides Association Holds Annual Meeting
The local Girl Guides Association held its annual meeting on Tuesday November 30 at the RSL Rooms. With the President absent, Divisional Commissioner Miss T Wren-Smith chaired. Mrs Jeffery resigned as Secretary and was thanked for her service. Elected officers include President Mrs J B Barker Vice presidents Mrs Woodard and Mrs A B Riggs Secretary and Treasurer Mrs R Ellis. Committee members are Mesdames Pyke Marston Trueman Allen Kilsby Jennison Heddle and Jeffery.

Burra Sub-Branch RSL celebrated the club rooms third anniversary with about 100 members and visitors. Guests included MP G Hawker and dignitaries from Clare Saddleworth and Waikerie as the Ladies Auxiliary offered a special repast and a remembrance ceremony was observed.
