At Burra Town Hall the Burra Fathers Association held an Amateur Hour interval ceremony. Mr G H Doliman announced a chair would be presented to the Burra Sub-Branch of the RSL for use by the president at meetings. Mr Culley handed over the chair to Mr M G Dobson and urged its active use in Sub-Branch duties.

Barrier Man Still in a Serious Condition
Mr Victor Grant a 26 year old accountant of Brakes Tull was the driver of the car that overturned near Flack Springs on Monday 9 August and is in a serious condition in Burra Hospital with a fractured skull. The other three occupants continued to Broken Hill by train where Mexsts Seayn on Curthoys were admitted.

Burra Homing Club Race Results From Tal em Berm Flight
The Burra Homing Club held a 116 mile race on Saturday August 14 for Mr L Pearce’s trophy under strong winds. First place went to L Hoon with blue chequer cock T1151 and velocity 7471 with a 4 hour 3 minute flight. Moore’s blue bar cock Pee 4608 finished second. A F Broad’s blue hen 10818 had velocity 74408 and a 4 hour 34 minute 48 second flight, placing fourth. Other noted competitors included J Byrne, J J Allen, Sueth 8 Kellaway and F Brandt with varying results.
