Burra Racing Club informs members that nominations for three 13 committee positions must be judged with the Secretary by Friday 13 August 1948. Messrs R James and K Kellaway announce purchase of Pyke's Burra Bakery and will trade as Excelsior Bakery. Bread deliveries continue as before and a trial is requested.
Local Boards of Health for Burra district remind parents guardians that the third injection and boosters for diphtheria will be given at Burra Hospital on Saturday August 1. Dam and R Crewes and E B Davey are secretaries.

The District Council of Hallett adopts the last previous assessment for all ratable property, with owners and occupiers listed. Appeals may be written within 21 days. revision hearing on September 6, 1948 at the District Office Hallett. Also declares the year ending 30 June 1948 rates: general rate eighteen pence in the pound with lighting rates three pence one farthing in the pound for Terowie Town and Hallett wards.
For maintenance the company will suspend services on Sunday next August 15 1948 from 10 09 am to mid day. Hurtle M Scott signs off on the notice.
