Bill Houy Honored as Concordia Stags Letterman

Bill Houy of Burnet and Burnet High School star basketball player in 1973-74 attended Concordia College Austin. He helped the Stags post a record 19 wins and will be honored at the Athletic Banquet on May 9. Houy set a school season free throw percentage record of 81.4 percent and plans to return next year.

Cynthia Burrow Honored With Bridal Shower

Oak Hill H D Club News Highlights May Meeting

The Oak Hill Home Demonstration Club met May 1 in Goree Wing Burnet County Library. President Mrs Ealy Dorbandt led. program Powder Puff Plumbing by Mrs Madge Holleman taught valve access and shutoffs for home water safety. Next meeting May 15 hosted by Mrs Lettie Rawlings at 2 p.m. at her lake house.

Pre-School Round Up Set for Burnet ISD

The Burnet Consolidated Independent School District schedules its annual pre-school round-up for Wednesday May 14 1975. Registration starts at 1 00 pm with parents meeting at Burnet Elementary Cafetorium or Bertram Elementary School. Five year olds visit kindergarten teachers at 308 East Brier and first graders report to 611 Vanderveer. Bertram five and six year olds attend Bertram. Between 2 00 and 2 30 school bus rides for all children. Bring birth certificates and health records.

Burnet Library Begins Rural Reading Outreach Program

Burnet County Library launches an oral history project and monthly book deliveries to Oakalla Briggs Lake Victor Spicewood Smithwick Fairfield Granite Shoals and other far flung areas. Staff visit residents collect reading materials and invite donations while promoting a new service to reach travelers and bus riders. Memorials this week honor Howard Adare with Milne titles and a foundation directory is added.

Burnet County Opens New Mental Health Clinic May 12

A new Burnet County Mental Health Center is scheduled to open in a new building behind The Bulletin on E Jackson Street. The clinic will operate 40 hours weekly with Dr. Paul White of Austin visiting on the first and third Mondays for outpatient therapy. Nurse Elaine Clark will serve full time as clinic director and Dorothy Muehlhaus e of Bertram will be the clerk. Hoover Builders supplied the cement block structure and interior finishes await installation.

Burnet Gun Club Rifle and Pistol Match Results

The Burnet Gun Club held a rifle and pistol match on Sunday April 20 1975 at the Club Range with events in 100 yard rifle standings centerfire rifle stand three position and hunter bench rest. Top finishers included Gary Holland Larry Eckert and Lt Henderson across events. A second match is planned Sunday May 11 at 1 30 p m with a club meeting on May 15 at 7 30 p m in the Fire Hall.

Vivian Rogers Named Artist of the Month

Mrs. Vivian Rogers receives the Artist of the Month honor. She began painting in 1967 with private instruction in Dimmitt and later joined Buchanan Arts and Crafts, Inc. Her landscapes and still lifes in oils and acrylics will be on display at First State Bank of Burnet through May.
