Third Drug Bust Nets A Pound Of Marijuana
Deputy Sheriff Frank Hines stopped a vehicle on RR 2657 north of Oakalla after a pursuit for speeding. About one pound of marijuana in 18 baggies and amphetamine pills were found. Dell Ray Turner, 19, of Fort Hood, was arrested and pled guilty to possession of controlled substances and DUI, with fines and a $2,500 bond set for felony possession.

The Burnet County Fair and Rodeo Association announces its annual barbecue dinner and officer election for 1976 on March 27 at 7 30 p.m. in the Association Fair Barn. Membership is $5 with dinner free for attendees. Outgoing directors include Ken Warden Jan Graves Donald Shel burn Ronnie Patterson Beck Hibler and Macy Orman who seeks re election. A wildlife movie will follow the dinner presented by Texas Parks and Wildlife ranger Bob Johnson.

Burnet Over 65 Exemption Requests Targeted
Burnet School District residents over age 65 may file or renew the $3,000 exemption at the school tax office. About 800 taxpayers used the exemption last year and roughly half have renewed for the current year. Tax assessor John Grissom says renewals are easier now due to possible computerization. The exemption must be filed or renewed annually.
