Burnet Pay Day Specials Boost Local Savings Featured

The Burnet First Friday Pay Day highlights bargains from 39¢ per pound for whole fryers to 66¢ for milk half gallon and $1.00 ladies shoes in a community shopper push. The 1st Cavalry show entertains Burnet residents with helicopter displays and precision marching. Marble Falls hosts Howdy Roo with chili cook-off and assorted events.

Highland Lakes Beauty Pageant Volunteers Nine Contestants

The Miss Highland Lakes Beauty Pageant will be held during the Highland Lakes Tourist Association's annual membership barbecue at Llano City Park. The event starts June 14 with the barbecue at 7:00 p.m. and the pageant at 8:00 p.m. Nine contestants from Burnet, Marble Falls, Buchanan Dam, Kingsland, Austin, Llano, Mason, San Saba, and Fredericksburg will compete.

Burnet reports weekly weather with high temperatures from 85 to 93 degrees and lows from 12 to 70. Rainfall totals include 0.88 inches for the week, 5.78 for the month, and 13.81 for the year.

City Council Eyes Parks Plan Backed by CAPCO

City council held a special meeting to review three proposed parks on Highway 29 East West and Highway 281 South. CAPCO recommended funding half of 179000 for improvements including drainage, parking, restrooms, lighting, shelters and a Little League park. Approval from the Parks and Wildlife Department is pending a月 month wait.

Monument of Flowers Honors Veterans in Burnet

The VFW Ladies Auxiliary thanks individuals and businesses for cash and floral donations to the Monument of Flowers observance on Memorial Day in Burnet. Names include local churches, banks, florists, and numerous families honoring those who served, many in World War I and II and Vietnam.

Zoning Commission Reaffirms City Ordinance

Burnet Zoning Commission met in City Hall to consider rezoning the Doyal’s Used Car lot Station and Grocery on Highway 281 South from residential to commercial. The site’s station and grocery were grandfathered under pre existing use, while moving a structure for car sales violated Ordinance No 350 per a letter from FE B Kinsey to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.

Burnet County announces the annual fair set for July 26-27 at the fair and rodeo grounds. Homemaking entries include flowers, vegetables, clothing, arts and crafts, preserved foods, baked goods, and canning or pickling items completed in the last year. Catalogs arrive in June for class details.
