Puckett program chairman. Representative Schlueter will open the midday program his remarks being followed by a speech by senator Doggett the legislators will remain in Burnet throughout the afternoon in order to take part in the Burnet county fair and Rodeo Parade which begins at 5 . Doggett has invited constituents to visit with him while he is in the area. Between 1 30 and 3 30 . He will be at the bulletin offices on Highway 281 s. In Burnet. Historical society meets Burnet a at their monthly meeting tuesday the Burnet county historical society discussed past business and future prospects. Fourteen members gathered inside the rustic fort Croghan museum the grounds of which have been recently mowed by museum hostess Iva Fuller s yardman from Marble Falls. The neglect of the fort s grounds was the subject of some controversy in the last few weeks As society members grew distressed with the Lack of attention paid to the Upkeep of Burnet s historic nucleus site. Estelle Bryson vice president of the society presided in the absence of president Vergil Lewis has been ill. The members at the meeting voted to reimburse mrs. Fuller for her expenses in getting the grounds mowed. The subjects of locks and keys monthly Bills and expenses were dealt with. The meeting closed with a discussion of a regular meeting schedule. It was decided to continue meeting the last tuesday of every month. Next month s meeting will Convene at the country store. The Central discussion of the meeting was an Exchange of ideas for fund raising activities music concerts rummage sales and auctions being among the alternatives suggested. The society is concerned with maintaining the six buildings on the old fort site. Fort Croghan is open five Days a week closed on thursdays and fridays. In the same action the charge for Landfill use by non residents was raised to $3 per Yard for Burnet businesses $1.75 per Yard and the Basic minimum rate for business pickup was increased to $3.75 with no change in the $1.00 per minute volume rate. The Council has placed a deadline on the use of the City Landfill by other county entities of january i 1978, at which time non residents will no longer be Able to use the Landfill at any Price. The Council invited several groups Are presently using the City s Landfill to attend tuesday night s meeting but not even one attended. City administrator Jack Tippit indicated that the new rate would allow the City to improve the garbage pick up service.
