Mr and Mrs Glen Doyle Hopkins of Burnet announce the engagement of their daughter Shirley Ann to Burton Allen Warwick of Bertram The couple plan a wedding Friday July 26 at the First United Methodist Church of Burnet
Phyllis Adrean finished a two week field biology and conservation course at the Audubon Camp in Savona Wisconsin. She joined more than 900 participants across four summer workshops run by the National Audubon Society with camps in Medomak Maine Dubois Wyoming and Greenwich Connecticut. The program covered animal life birds plants and geology and aimed to present a total picture of humans in their biophysical and cultural environment. An instructor added teaching techniques for natural history and conservation.
Oe Burnet locals host and visit relatives across states and bases. Abilene and Philadelphia visitors stay with Fosters. Schmid and Hawthorne families welcome England and Greece travels. Several Burns residents attend barbecues, birthdays, and church class meetings, with updates on deployments and relocations.
The Texas Highway Patrol reports 23 rural highway accidents in Burnet County during June with no deaths and eight injuries. For 1974 overall, Burnet County totals stand at 105 accidents, two deaths, and 37 injuries.
Nelson T. Hallmark retires from the U S Army Engineer Topographic Laboratories Fort Belvoir Virginia after a career spanning World War II in topographic units and 18 months in the Pacific. He earned multiple decorations and held major roles including chief of the Geodesy Division in Tokyo while with the Map Service.
Hazel Lewis reports on William Coyner remaining hospitalized in St. David's Austin with family visits from Katharine Harriman of Baytown and Mamie Power at Crowley retirement home. Community groups at First Union Church, Colonial Club, and Retired Telephone Employees discuss remodeling projects, gatherings, and service activities.
Miss Linda Bradley of Odessa is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Don Jackson, staying for a short visit with the Odessa residents.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Usury of Tyler spent the weekend with Edna Ligon, his mother. Their sons who came with them remained weeklong guests at Mrs. Ligon's home.
