Box it u3o Dellas Texas 7235xxx water District election to be held in april of Council approves annexation by Marty Primeau Marble Falls overruling the protests of a handful of property owners the Marble Falls City Council approved a petition to Annex 40.9 acres of land South of the City limits at a special meeting Friday evening. The Council also decided to Call for an election on the takeover of the Marble Falls water control and improvement District no. I after hearing a petition which was submitted to the City Jan. 12. The annexation petition which includes a amp a and a amp a additions Lakeview trailer Park and adjoining property was presented to the City by Cliff bibles and other residents in late november and a Public hearing was held at the dec. 14 Council meeting. Leading the protest against the petition was property owner Jack Barrier who argued that the annexation Quot should be put to a vote of the people in the District Quot and offered to pay for the election. After the unanimous vote was taken with Alderman Duayne Michel absent. Mayor Dean chafes subdued Barrier by authorizing City manager Dick Zimmerman to arrange a meeting Between the City attorney and Barrier s lawyer. Barrier mrs. Landon Smith and the other property owners presented their own petition at the Jan. Mrs. Williams has not yet announced plans to run for re election to the three year term. Quot i mainly filed because i have a Strong interest in our school and in our children Quot mrs. Taylor said Quot i am not actively running against Sally Williams but i am running for position mrs. Taylor is the wife of Paul j. Taylor and the couple has one daughter who is in the sixth Grade at Burnet intermediate school. She has served on the Burnet Parent teachers association for six years and was elected finance chairman this year. Mrs. Taylor is also childrens educational director at the methodist Church in Burnet where she is a member. Quot i have a great Deal of respect for the school Board Quot mrs. It is not perfect but it is a situation we can be proud mrs. Taylor is employed at Fry motors in Burnet and her husband works for Mcmorris Ford in Austin. They have lived in Burnet for twelve years and Are the past owners of White Auto renovations to Burnet elementary school is one item that mrs. Taylor said she is concerned with. Quot Many people want to build a new stadium Quot she said Quot and the stadium would improve the athletic program but i feel that the elementary school should come she added that she does t feel that now is the time to spend a great Deal of Money building a new stadium when the elementary school is in need of repair. Taylor emphasized Quot we should be Able to talk about it together and decide what is ambulance problems to be aired Burnet a the first meeting of a committee of county residents who will discuss the county s ambulance service problems will be held at 7 . Tuesday in the Burnet county courthouse. The committee was approved by the Burnet county commissioners at their nov. 22 meeting at which Marble Falls City manager Dick Zimmerman presented a consultant s study indicating the need for ambulance service in the Marble Falls Granite Shoals area. At the first meeting we will introduce All the members identify the problem we have and try to get input from everyone Quot Zimmerman said. Selected by judge b. He added that the committee will also discuss who should pick up the Tab for the service the City of Marble Falls the county or a combination of the two. Sheriff Riddell to appear tonight on eyes of Central Texas Burnet the Quot eyes of Cen trial Texas Quot a television program produced by a tic Channel 7 in Austin will be focused on our own sheriff Wallace Riddell beginning at 6 30 . Tonight. A television news Crew was in Burnet last thursday filming a feature segment on the sheriff and it will be shown during tonight s broadcast Joe Roddy hosts the program which is aired once each month and highlights human interest events and interesting people. Alderman Harvey Campi explained his reason for voting for the annexation by saying that Marble Falls is a Quot potentially Active area Quot and the Only Way to avoid potential problems in planning for the City is through organized growth. At the regular meeting of the Board Jan. 13, the trustees accepted the resignation of head football coach Johnny Kolacek who cited his Mustang s two losing seasons As his main reason for resigning. Hundley said the administration will Quot screen and interview the applicants and recommend one to the Board for the trustees discussed the qualifications they Are looking for in in athletic director and Hundley said they Are All in agreement that the school District is looking for a person Quot who can stimulate the entire athletic program and support both girls and boys the Board voted to hire Balzer and Davidson of Fredericksburg to conduct the 1977 yearly audit of the school District and Hundley will work with the firm to make any changes in procedure he feels Are necessary. Hundley reported the arrival o the 1972 passenger bus which had been ordered by the District and the Board authorized him to advertise bids to sell three surplus buses in the Fleet.
