Burnet City Zoning Commission denied a permit to place a mobile home at 505 N. Pierce St after a fire destroyed a residence. Of 38 letters sent to nearby property owners, 12 protested the permit leading to three yes votes and one abstention in the regular session held January 6.

Burnet County Appoints Jailer Board Member and hires staff

Burnet County Commissioners at the reg ular session appointed Mrs G L Jones to the County Orary Board replacing Mrs Agnes Hefner. The court authorized rehiring part time deputy Wanda Asha branner and agreed to hire a cook and assistant jailer for the Burnet County Jail. Notices calling for bids on gasoline for the county and depository and printing for the treasurer's quarterly report were issued.

The Burnet CISD Parent-Teacher Association will hold its monthly meeting Thursday January 16 at 7 30 p m in the Bertram Cafetorium. The program features a Gingerbread Boy presentation by Bertram kindergarten students.

The 1975 Burnet County Livestock Show and Sale totaled 44 636 07 with buyers plentiful despite a weaker cattle market. Grand Champion Steer weighed 1 080 pounds and sold for 1 566. Hoover Builders and Supply bought the steer at 145 per pound. Vicki Ebeling showed the champion.

Burnet City Council Approves Garbage Truck Purchase

The Burnet City Council in regular session approved a Heil Mark II packer body for $9,885 and a Davis Truck Co. Ford LN 800 chassis at $9,402. An ordinance banning wheel spin when starting a vehicle was discussed and tabled. Street sign planning and naming for developments were also tabled pending further study.

Bicentennial Commission Plans Barnet Celebration

John Lopes leads Barnet Bicentennial Commission in planning a county wide celebration beginning May 30 1975 at high noon. Citizens urged to participate with plans for a county history project and family histories, next meeting January 28 at 7 30 pm Chamber of Commerce office. Intermediate School Opening Set For Jan 20

After a complete tour of the new Burnet Junior High School officials agreed to start classes Monday January 20. The board accepted the building with minor odds and ends to be finished. The tornado damaged Burnet area led to insurance funds and a disaster grant funding the 1,026,050 facility with 40,000 square feet and modern features. Open house will follow the tour and meeting.

Bake Show Winners Sweep 1975 4 H and FFA Hearts

The 1975 Bake Show on January 11 featured 123 entries across Cakes Pies Candies Cookies and Breads. Theresa Mallett Burnet 4 H Club won Grand Champion Pie with Margie Lindsey Marble Falls FHA Reserve Champion pie.
