Barnet Johnston Inc will celebrate its Grand Opening Wednesday August 24 at the Industrial Park Highway 281 South building. The garment production facility cost about 250000 with granite from Marbie Falls and was built by Hoover Construction of Burnet. Grand Opening runs from 17 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Doyle Wayne Owens of Lampasas, 23, died in a single-vehicle wreck on Highway 281 north of Burnet. His 1965 Chevrolet panel truck left the road and struck a live oak tree. Justice of the Peace Chester Kincheloe ruled the death at the scene 7.9 miles north of Burnet.
The Burnet Bulldog Band Parents Association elected Mr and Mrs Clay Young as co presidents for 1977 78 and named Mr and Mrs Junior Marshall co vice presidents. Mary Borders was chosen treasurer and Mrs Jack Fry secretary. They set concession prices for the upcoming sports season to fund band activities.
Burnet High introduces a single main line 756-6193 for all extensions including office, band hall and staff areas. The change, effective immediately, aims to simplify calls and reduce costs across the campus.
Burnet Texas Mrs Pat Dennis longtime Burnet Chamber of Commerce secretary resigns to become secretary for city manager Jack Tippit. She is a mother of four and grandmother of one and has worked since joining the chamber after earlier stints in law offices. Tippit plans to start her at City Hall in September.
