Students should Register at the school they plan to attend. Kindergarten students those who will be five years old before september 1, 1977 will Register at 811 North Vanderveer Burnet elementary school and Bertram elementary. At registration parents of children entering school for the first time should bring the child s birth certificate and immunization records showing immunization against polio diphtheria pertussis tetanus measles and rubella. Only students new to the Burnet District need Register at the intermediate school and High school on september 2, 1977, or they May Register at any time before that. Seniors at Burnet High school Are invited to come to the High school at 1 30 . On thursday september 1st juniors Are invited to come at 9 . On Friday september 2nd sophomores at 11 . Bob Wilkin pointed out that Texas school districts will receive $110 per student per Day average daily attendance for the coming fiscal year an increase of $10 Ada Over last year. Other matters which received the consideration of the Council were issues of Highway repaving and traffic control development charges for users of Large amounts of electricity Barking dogs annexation Low water pressure and restructuring and renaming of the zoning commission. A red Wilson and Aubrey Fariss of the Texas Highway department presented the Council with plans to resurface highways 29 and 281 within the City limits with an Inch and a half of hot mix. The Highway engineers also proposed striping a Central left turn Lane when the roads Are resurfaced to Cut Down the risk of rear end collisions and also to synchronize the Light at the Post office with the Light at 281. The championship play offs saturday night saw the Field of contenders narrowed to Morris Larry Franklin who placed second and Wade Stockton who showed for third the three of them aiming for the $650 purse with enough concentrated musicianship to Goose flesh the entire Industrial Park audience. Jan Kassaw kept Busy All Day saturday in his role As emcee announcing events and winners and keeping things rolling As the players went through their paces with breakdowns Waltzes hornpipe tunes and country swing. Roy Murray vice president of the Burnet chamber of Commerce and miss Burnet Patti Bridges presented the prizes to the winning fiddlers and also to the guitarists who took top honors in the accompanist category Ray Franklin first Charlie Smith second and buddy weeks third. In the trick and fancy fiddling judging the audience applause gave first place to Ricky Boen who showed that a fiddle can be played a and played Well the festival while wearing leather work gloves. Wade Stockton took second in the trick and fancy Field by slackening his Bow and fiddling Over under while Young Nancy Henson took third by standing on a piano Stool. Carl Hazlewood and Terry Morris took fourth and fifth in the fancy Competition respectively. Other award winners were Lewis Franklin who was named the favorite fiddler pop Harria the oldest fiddler at 86 years of age and three year old Nancy Henson was a shoe in for youngest fiddler. Aside from Morris Franklin and Stockton others in the top ten among old time fiddlers were Carf Hopkins fourth Jimmy Don Bates fifth Robert Langford sixth .
