A note says the school voter elections are set for Monday the 14th with City Hall used for voting and counting that night. Kueckers Move to Their New Home
The Arnold Kuecker family moved into a spacious new house on the east side of town built by Peterson and Kenny. The residence is not fully finished inside yet, but keys bring settlement as work continues this spring with plans for a garage and breezeway to be added. Florence Bosma returned last Friday from the Park Hospital at Mason City, noting no patient there since Monday.

Car overturns on icy road near Bancroft injures Mrs Kuecker
Mrs. Fred Kuecker, mother of a creamery manager, escaped serious injury when her car skidded on the west Bancroft ice and overturned Sunday afternoon. Rescued by bystanders, she was taken to a Bancroft doctor, bruised but not seriously hurt, and recovering at Buffalo Hotel. Her 1951 Chrysler was badly damaged.

Ruth DeBoer Wins Governor General's Award in Canada
Ruth DeBoer daughter of Rev and Mrs Martin DeBoer of Springside Saskatchewan received the Governor General's Medal with top marks across Literature 100 Social Studies 100 Algebra 100 Geometry Trigonometry 100 Chemistry 92 Composition 90 Biology 89 and French 87. She studies education at Sioux Falls College in South Dakota after attending Buffalo Center school. She previously won the Winnebago County spelling championship and competed in the state contest.

Mrs Fenno Bruhns Dies at 71 in Buffalo Center
Funeral services were held at the farm home and Congregational Church for Mrs. Fenno Bruhns born Pearl Drake in 1883. She taught rural schools, married Fenno Bruhns in 1906, and lived on a Buffalo Center area farm for decades. Survived by husband two daughters a son a sister a brother and nine grandchildren. Burial followed at Graceland cemetery with pallbearers named from the community.

IH Open House Draws Large Crowd
A February 24 open house at Jensvold Inc. drew farmers and enthusiasts to view International Harvester's 1955 tractor lineup. Guests inspected the bright red models including the new four bottom plow equipped "4" and the three bottom plow "3" plus the two plow "2" and Farmall "100" and Cub models. Lunch, films on agriculture, and prize drawings accompanied demonstrations of the IH cream separator.

Homer Ankeny Admitted to Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis
Homer Ankeny was admitted to the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis Minnesota on February 18 and underwent major surgery on the 24th. His wife Mrs Ankeny returned home after staying with him through the critical period. He has been visited by Mr and Mrs George Wenger Mrs Ed Hulmes Howard Northrup C T Peterson Carl Skilbred Roy Y Johnson and son Stephen. Legionnaires Meet Tonight in Winnebago Fest
Winnebago Fest No 21 of the American Legion will meet at 8:00 p.m. Thursday March 3 for a regular session with pancake breakfast, syrup, sausage and coffee. Door prize of 10 dollars. Adjutant Roy Myhr will show two films and discuss March and April projects and Boys State candidates. Also notes on Roy Myhr moving to Clear Lake and plans for a successor. Two steel chairs and trash containers ordered for Main Street disposal. Raymond Wempen, Korean veteran, paid Legion dues for 1955. Attendees included several Legionnaires and past commander Roy Fisk who saw Towns beat Minnesota U. 72-70 in Minneapolis.

Mother of W Hassebroek Dies in Iowa Funeral
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Haassebroek were held at Winter Funeral Home and Zoar Church near George Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. She died Sunday February 27 1955 at 9 30 am at her son’s residence after long illness.

Weaver Case Transferred to Mitchell County for Trial
The embezzlement case of Francis D. Weaver moves to Mitchell County District Court in Osage for the April term following Judge Tom Boynton's venue ruling. Weaver, accused of stealing 3000 dollars from Mrs. Sophia Tschirki of Forest City, pleaded not guilty in Forest City court last Saturday. Disinterested Forest City residents Kugler, Beck, and Halverson signed a statement claiming a fair trial could not be held in Winnebago County. Barber Completes TV Installation Course Ahead of Time
Melvin Leibrand, long a barber, finished a year and a half television electronics course in eight months. He built a five inch oscilloscope and a five tube 17 inch TV set during practical work at Louisville labs. He will apply the training to Philco and Sylvania sales and repair with Ted Fredericks at New Farmer’s Cash Grocery. Harald Heitland will keep the barber chair running in Mel’s absence.
