Betty Elman Leaves Legacy in Education
Betty L Elman 83 longtime Buffalo Center Tribune publisher's wife and former third grade teacher died Thursday after a lingering illness. Born near Armstrong, she taught in Britt and Buffalo Center, retired 1992, active in church and community. Her family spans four generations of educators. Funeral services were not Monday June 27.

Longtime North Iowa music teacher Mrs Kettwick retires
Mrs. Carole Kettwick wrapped up 23 years in music education including 18 years at North Iowa. She began teaching in 1988 at St. John Bancroft and later worked at Lakota Forest City Woden-Crystal Lake and Thompson before returning to North Iowa in 1995. She led K-12 vocal music from 2007, directed Opus Honor Choir Festival activities, and plans flexible future work including substitute teaching and church music. She and husband Mike have three sons and roots in Forest City.
