Derek Yegge delivers a rambling 2014 North Iowa High School commencement address praising lifelong learning, hard work, fun, and trying new things. He thanks students, teachers, and coaches, jokes about diplomas, politics, and a blackjack line, and closes with a quote about identity and roots.
Paige Hassebroek of Bufalo Center received a 1000 scholarship from the Iowa Motor Carriers Foundation, part of IMTA, as one of ten 1000 awards this year. The Darryl Mason Memorial funds the prize, honoring a longtime supporter of trucking events. Paige is the daughter of Travis and Patty Hassebrock.
The Cry Lakota held a special session on June 19 2014 at 7 00 PM in Cay al Mayor Doug Price led the meeting. Council members Good Janssen Klinger and Stover attended with Hagedorn absent. Clerk Amber Shin conducted the oath of office for Jon Kitzinger as mayor Price presided. The council adopted Resolution 20140601 for a construction contract and approved a paper shredder purchase. The Nortowa Community School Board met in special session on Monday June 16 2014 in the commons. Present were Grating Gesking Holstd Poe Sachs with Absent Balance Due and Wubben. Supt Myer introduced the High School Principal interview schedule and candidates. Four interviews were conducted before relocation to the Alternative School for the interviews. The board returned to the commons at 4:15 pm to discuss candidates, with five ayes and one nay. Secretary Manders and twelve guests attended.
The June 10 2014 session of the Winnebago County Board of Supervisors approved minutes from June 2 2014 and set the agenda for June 10 2014. They discussed DD Lat ral 1a repairs tying and depth concerns for Mount Vasey Township and DD 5 Lateral 5 engineering. Actions included approving payments to Iowa Drainage Dallet Association and adjustments to road funding and personnel. The board canvassed the 2014 primary election and reviewed labor agreements and county road status. The meeting included notes on Eagle Park parcels and drainage, with adjournment planned for next week.
