Early Teal Season Applications Rolling In Across State
Over 2008 hunters already applied for a permit to join the second Experimental Teal Season announced by the State Conservation Commission. Applications were available since May 1 at county offices and licensing depots with postmark or in person deadlines in late July. The hunt runs September 17 to 25 and requires a permit, a current hunting license, and a federal duck stamp, with the goal to measure if more teal can be harvested. Last year about 17,000 hunted the experiment.

The State Conservation Commission urges people not to take or handle young wildlife such as rabbits birds and fawns. Finding a seemingly abandoned fawn is common but the mother is nearby. Wild youngsters are hard to care for and may become dangerous when grown. Interfering with wildlife is illegal and observers should watch without touching.

Eden Township Farmer Julius Jelle Dies at 79
Julius Jelle 79 longtime Eden Township farmer died after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held June 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Rake. burial followed in Trinity Cemetery. Survived by wife Marie son Lester Eden Township four grandchildren and three sisters.

Rev Eugene J Weimer former pastor of St Patrick's Dubuque Center and Sacred Hearts Woden marked his 25th Jubilee in the priesthood on June 7 1966. Born September 4 1916 in Dubuque he studied at Loras College and the Catholic University Theological College Washington ordained June 7 1941 by Archbishop Beckman.
