Golf Checks Returned as Thompson Area Funds Redirect

Thirty six residents of the Thompson area who donated $100 each saw their checks returned on December 4 after a land option near Florence Park became unlikely. The original goal of $15,000 by the West Winnebago Development Association was to secure land south of the Winnebago County Conservation Board holdings for a golf course. With Bert Grats’ will revealing a 100 acre recreation grant near Buffalo Center, Thompson backers shifted, favoring the Grass Recreation Area and nearby facilities over Florence Park.
