Legionnaires Entertain Ladies and Talk UNESCO Event
Legionnaires at city hall hosted Auxiliary ladies with an oyster stew and program led by Roy V. Johnson. Rev. Mathie spoke on UNESCO and praised Iowa delegates from the Miami convention. County leaders Bredeson and Lund discussed activities. A county meeting is planned for Jan. 19 with guests DeJong and Costigan. Fundraising nets included a $32 trap shoot and a $156.21 feather party. An upcoming wall-eye feast is set for Jan. 27.

Womans Community Club Sponsors Polio Fund Drive
The Womans Community Club held its December meeting at city hall with thirty five members present and planned a January Polio drive. Committee members include Mrs El mer Abbas Mrs Albert Doden Mrs Ed Thiele Mrs Guy Barton and Mrs Robert Friis. The program featured piano by Mrs Doden a vocal solo by Dennis Becker two accordion solos by John Costigan and Mrs William Haselroth leading Christmas carols. First prize winners from the Christmas Decoration show demonstrated their winning article.

Legion Auxiliary to Send Gifts to Vets In Hospitals
Regular meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary on Thursday December 1 featured a 6:30 oyster stew supper. Members planned Christmas gifts for hospitalized veterans with ten volunteers to remember forgotten patients at Woodward hospital. Amy Echoon and Ethel Winter were appointed to purchase gifts for aged members. The Rehabilitation chairman announced free gifts for veterans spending Christmas in hospital. Buffalo Center unit reported gifts including hankies, stationery, clothing and more. County meeting set for January 19 with Marie Morgan in charge of lunch.

Prenuptial Shower Honors Miss June W Nelson
Miss June W Nelson was the honored guest at a prenuptial shower in Bethlehem Lutheran church parlors on Saturday evening December 3. She received many gifts for her new home. Grace circle members hosted the event. Lutjen Zingg of Grundy Center delivered hay for the Zingg Brothers and returned home the same evening.
