About 100 4-H members from Winnebago county traveled via KGLO North Iowa Fair to Chicago from Thursday evening to Tuesday morning. Leaders included Edwin Christ and Mrs. Carl Meeres among others. Highlights included the International Live Exposition, the Continental Exhibit, the Museum of Science and Industry, and a bus tour of the city. local sponsors contributed funds and support.

Bond jumper Meyer brought back from Texas to stand trial
Clarence D. Meyer of Titonka forfeited a $2,000 bail on a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses related to a Hamilton Hatchery commission. He fled in October, was tracked to Harrington Nebraska and Keene Texas, where he was located after marrying there. Sheriff Lindquist planned to return him to Kossuth county to face the grand jury.

VFW Auxiliary Sets Monday Meeting With Decoration Work

Home From Hospital Henry Becker Returns To Mason City
Henry Becker, long hospitalized at Mercy Hospital in Mason City since November 1, came home last Wednesday, the 24th, with family visiting on Sunday. Harry Harris was discharged from Mercy Hospital after major surgery on November 18 and is at home in the south part of town. An appreciation note from Mr. Piel Gibson thanks the Dolmage Memorial hospital staff and doctors for their kindness during illness.

Former Estherville Telegraphist Lloyd Monroe Dies at Fort Snelling
Lloyd BE Monroe 55, ex-Ustherville resident, died at the Veterans hospital Fort Snelling St Paul Minn from heart ailment and complications. A Rock Island telegrapher and former station agent at Manly and Buffalo Center, he and wife ran Monroe cabins in Estherville. They later lived in Walker Minn. Survived by widow, son Jack of Los Angeles and daughter Mrs Robert Kennedy of Walker, plus his father J A Monroe of Los Angeles and two grandchildren. One son Billy was killed in World War II and is buried in Los Angeles. Mrs Monroe accompanied the body to Los Angeles for burial. Funeral services held on arrival.

Word reached here of the death of Dr. Dell Grothaus at Delta where he had practiced for 40 years. Funeral services were held at Delta on Tuesday and the body was later taken to Ackley for services and burial on Wednesday.
