Four Lake Mills youths plead guilty after 50 mile chase
Four youths from Lake Mills pled guilty in Emory J. Oleson's Forest City court to drinking on a public highway. Each paid a $25 fine plus costs. Grant Langard faced an extra $125 fine for reckless driving. Earl Brackey Carlyle Engebretson paid fines. Ken Thompson remained jailed until payment. Sheriff Monson pursued the car over 50 miles into Minnesota, then back to Iowa.

VFW Post Holds Semi Monthly Meeting and Corn Roast

Two Plead Guilty on Driving Charge
Forest City carpenter Carl Clasen and Palo Alto county resident Alfred Leslein pled guilty before Judge Boynton to drunken driving. They were sentenced to 90 days in jail or a $300 fine. Leslein paid the fine. Clasen remains in county jail pending payment.

Two Cars Collide Near Forest City
Friday night two Forest City drivers Gene Brown and Mrs Milton Miller collided at a corner 2 miles east and a half mile south of Forest City near the Joe Larson farm. Mrs Charles Smith and Mrs Helmer Peterson riding with Mrs Miller were treated for slight injuries and released at Forest City hospital. Brown’s 1937 Ford was badly damaged while the Miller Chevrolet sustained about 30000 damage.

Buffalo Center School Opens Monday With Record Enrollment
The Buffalo Center school began the 1950-51 term with 496 pupils enrolled by Tuesday, the largest in history. First eight grades hold 315 pupils and 181 are in high school, with ninth grade the largest group. The lunch program started Tuesday with 332 participants, lunches 20 cents aided by the National School Lunch Program and surplus foods, directed by Vera Olson.
