Fredericks to Erect New Market on Main Street

The vig started last week with Fredericks building a new 80 by 90 foot one story market on Main Street north of Leibrand Bar. Letcher brothers began footings, Lloyd Robinson holds the building contract. ground work includes gravel parking and future car lot use by Sleper Sales. Other nearby projects progress with footings, basements, and roofing underway across town as builders advance specific structures and renovations.

Lions to Meet Monday at City Hall for Social

The Lions will meet Monday evening August 7 at City Hall. A barbecue of Mrs. S best meals, a song fest, and the transaction of important basic business will be on the agenda as President Lawrence Costigan presides.

Junior Show to Be Held Aug 17 18 19

The Winnebago Junior Show will run August 17 to 19 in Thompson with commercial exhibits urged by a board committee chosen July 25. Baby Beef sale on August 19 Saturday afternoon is a highlight backed by local 4 H and FFA supporters. Livestock judging on August 18 with Cliff Cairns Wilson and Co and Wallace Miller Minnesota Valley Breeders Assn. judging dairy heifers. Girls 4 H projects will be judged by Mrs Elizabeth A Schenck Algona. Various superintendents named for livestock divisions and entries arrangements.

Semi Truck Collision Narrowly Averted on Highway Nine

On a Wednesday evening near Jensyold’s lots and the VFW site a large semi-trailer owned by W. E. Fear of Everly and driven by his son Ralph narrowly avoided a crash with a car driven by Billy Becker. The truck could not stop, plowing into several large Kelly-Ryan farm elevators west of the VFW site, damaging four elevators while occupants escaped serious harm.

Stores to Close For Parade and Ball Game

All Buffalo Center business houses will close Friday August 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This charity observance aims to boost Buffalo Day. After 5 p.m. shops may reopen or remain closed at owners’ discretion, per John Lande president of the Business Men's Club.
