Brazos Bohemians Rally for Czech Slovak War Aid

Brazos county Bohemians plan a Sunday meeting at the Bryan Bohemian hall after church to raise funds for the Czech and Slovak war effort. They target at least 25000 to 50000 dollars, with bazaars in Smetana, Fort Worth and Taylor and exhibitions of cotton and farm goods to support Czech soldiers and allied propaganda.

College camp soldiers hold big country dinner reunion

At C. M. Risinger home in Harvey a reunion dinner brought about 30 people to celebrate Barlee Risinger returning from training with the auto mechanics program at A and M College. Visitors Minnie and Ollie Risinger of Warren Texas joined relatives including W. N. Crenshaw in Bryan. The gathering lightened the crowd and gave the young attendees a festive afternoon.

Red Cross Proceeds From Meteorological Minstrels

The manager of the Meteorological Minstrels reports net proceeds from the Red Cross event totaling between 240 and 250 dollars. Settlement occurred this afternoon with all cash handed to the local Red Cross chapter. He notes the Navasota show Monday night raised about 100 dollars for the Red Cross.

Local man dies after gunshot wound at Bryan hospital

Charlie Rhodes, a 40 year old farmer from Mumford on the Jim Jenkins place, died at Bryan hospital yesterday after being brought there August 23 for an operation following a gunshot wound received that day. Details of the tragedy were not received. Rhodes was married.

An official London report says Entente allied troops in northern European Russia aided by Russian forces captured the enemy position north of Oberers kaya, 75 miles south of Archangel. The town remains in allied control following the advance reported by Associated Press.

Allied citizens receive safe conduct via Finland
