Students to Draw Army Pay While They Study at A M College

The War Department plans to enroll over 18 year old college students in the Students Army Training Corps at A and M. Privates will receive 30 dollars monthly plus clothes subsistence and instruction. The program aims to keep enrollment at strong levels through September and October with transfers to officers training schools as needed. President Bizzell says the new regulations and the National Service Act promise record college enrollment.

Americans Seize German Guns In French Quarry Action

A sergeant on a reconnoitering tour near Juvigny helped drive Germans from a quarry after seizing a machine gun. Forty seven Germans surrendered from a limestone cave, with an American corporal taking seventeen. Two artillery pieces were captured as Germans attempted to withdraw them.

Six white men sent to Camp Bowie today

Six white men were sent by the local board today to Camp Bowie: Thomas F. Higgs, Ernest W. Thompson, John W. Ayers, Silas H. Smith, Willie German, Stiney Sikor sky, Henry G. Eaves, Blanton W. Wiley. The negro registrants who went to Camp Travis yesterday are Oscar Price, John C. Monroe, James Nowl ing, Bell Peterson, Glenn Bradley, Flemming Herrod, Jr., Albert Hayes, James Thomas, Arch Burch. The three negroes who went to Camp Dodge, Iowa, are Willie Eaton, Oscar Eaton and Fred BE, Jenkins.
